Nappy Pork Sandwich
Sometimes in a man's life he just has to play some nasty blues music. Here is some straight distilled blues heat from my new group the Blues Ninjas. Noe Socha on Guitar and Harmonica, Jordan Rose on Drums, Will Lydgate on Bass. I also engineered and produced this track out of Berklee College of Music Studio A. We used the Studer A800 Tape Machine to record the tracks and I mixed it on my Pro Tools rig in Brookline MA.
Here is the roots version of 'Firework' I did before I sent the track to GDubb Labs.
Will Lydgate On bass, guitars, and background vocals. Engineered by Will Lydgate in 2011 at Steelgrass Recording Kaua'I HI

Katy Perry 'Firework' Reggae Version By Preeta and Willyum/Gdubb Labs (cover)
My Cover of Katy Perry's 'Firework' with Preeta. This one came out really well. It has lots of views and counting. You can hear the excellent production work from our friend Gregg Allen on this track along with mine. A great collaboration, I hope you like it. We are going to try to get a video out for it this spring so stay tuned.
Will It Go Round in Circles
Blues Ninjas. On this tune we add some delicious Hammond B-3 organ from the one and only Eric Finland. This is a classic Billy Preston tune from the early 70's.
11 11 11
Blues Ninjas. We wrote this one in the studio on the 11th of November 2011 hence the name of the track and the melodic motif. Just say 11, 11, 11 and you'll get it.
Blues Ninjas. This tune was on one of the first blues albums I ever bought called Just Pickin' by Freddie King. I am so glad that Noe shares my love of Freddie King, we had a blast playing it.
Blues Ninjas. Check out this Blues Ninjas take on a Grover Washington Jr. classic.
In a Dis Ya Time Soundalike
This was my Berklee MP 318 sound-a-like project. The assignment was to take an existing recording and make an exact copy of it from scratch in the studio. Doing a sound-a-alike is a wonderful project and a great way to learn about recording. I took one of my favorite tunes by the Jamaican reggae group the Itals and set out to copy it. Here is the original http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXq22eneiFw. I nailed some of it and other parts I got close, and, I learned a TON. I wish the entire Berklee curriculum was just doing sound-a-likes!
In a Dis Ya Time Soundalike DUBPLATE
And, I made a dubplate of my project. Go ahead and make your own In a Dis Ya Time version with new vocals!
Dave Fiuczynsi's MICRO JAM@ 92y TriBeCa
I got asked to play some microtonal music by my friend Dave Fiuczynski. Dave is cracked in all the right places. A monster player with a taste for the bizarre, groove sense for days, and a guitar with no frets. Dave was also my teacher at Berklee. He has a wonderful way of sharing music with his students, I got a lot from him. Thanks Dave! Dave Fiuczynski on fretless and ¼ step fretted guitars, Alex Biscuit Bailey on Drums, Utar Dundarartun on Microtonal keyboards, Will Lydgate on fretless bass.
Come What May
I got MARRIED! To the lovely Annabelle. We decided to learn a little song and record it for the folks who came to our wedding. Here it is! remember Moulin Rouge?
Written By Lee Morgan. Recorded at the History of Jazz Part three-the blues in Jazz, at Kauai Performing Arts Center @ Kauai Community College. Recorded by Ron ‘RP’ Pendragon.
This Concert was put together by my number one homeboy Kirk Smart in early 2010. We had an upwards of 400 folks in the audience at KPAC that night. I include this so you can hear me play bass in the jazz idiom. I edited it to make it somewhat shorter for the listener (that’s you!!!). The first solo is Chicago Born west side Kauai educator and Phenom David Braun on trumpet, next is bay area jazz Legend Noel Jewkes aka ‘Leon Sekweg’ on Tenor sax. Then, the one and only Kirk Smart on Guitar, followed by me, yours truly, Will Lydgate on P bass. I’m the fourth solo… Check it out, but I’m grooving underneath all those other solos along with Mr. Jah Booty Star Elijah Lenhart on drums. What a treat!
Traditional Sundanese (West Java) popular song Recorded by Will Lydgate and ‘Adi’ at Steelgrass Recording Studio 2007, With Will Lydgate and Sambasunda (west Java world music phenomenon)
Produced by Will Lydgate with additional recording by Will Lydgate.
This is an extra special track. Sambasunda was in residence with us for the week. They did a bunch of recording on our gamelan set, much fried rice and gado gado(peanut sauce salad) were consumed and, I got them on a track! West Java vocal star Rita Tila sings with some incredible playing by all and hand drumming by sambasunda leader Ismet Rucimat. The organ and drum kit were overdubs, I’m playing organ and Elijah Lenhart is on drums. I am hoping for another coolaboration with Sambasunda in the near future for a full album project.

We Are Here Reprise
Written by +Elijah-, recorded in Princeville summer 2009 on a zoom stereo recorder at Band of Light, Band Together. Mastered by Will Lydgate at Studio Dubya.
This was a particularly fun night. +Elijah- is playing drums and fronting his band at the same time, a miraculous feet. The crowd was pumping that night. I am playing bass and we were blessed to have Mr. Rene Del Fierro and Jeff Caldwell playing guitars, Crystal on back vox. If there were a couple of mistakes or bad notes in the vocals or parts you’ll have to forgive us. Listen to the funk, and to my shredding octave pedal bass solo starting at 4:50. Having Rene around really inspires me and I think I really played this one well. I can’t remember feeling it more. Unfortunately the sax comes in towords the end of my solo and obscures me a bit. I think you’ll hear it though. And the jam at the end it HOTT

Noting is more fun than playing a Jimi tune with Rene Del Fierro on guitar. Nuff Said.

Recorded 2010 in Princeville by Erik Zang.
It is a rare blessing to play with a Kaval Player (Turkish flute) an even more rare blessing to play a duet with one this talented. Here is a co-collaboration between the four of us starting with a flute/Bass call and response duet. Erik Schooled me and I loved it. I call this tune Turkish Light. Turn the lights down low or this one, or play it during a meditative moment and enjoy the journey.
